{"id":471,"date":"2009-08-03T22:33:34","date_gmt":"2009-08-04T02:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novascotiaphotoalbum.com\/blog\/?p=471"},"modified":"2013-01-11T15:23:41","modified_gmt":"2013-01-11T19:23:41","slug":"fast-and-furious-sea-trials-at-the-classic-boat-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novascotiaphotoalbum.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/fast-and-furious-sea-trials-at-the-classic-boat-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Fast and Furious Sea Trials at the Classic Boat Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s our favourite event of the annual Mahone Bay Classic Boat Festival.\u00a0 Teams of contestants are given 4 hours and limited materials to construct a boat of their own design.\u00a0 The construction takes place in full view of festival-goers.\u00a0 On the last day of the Festival, a<span> crowd gathers for the &#8220;sea trials&#8221;, in which the contestants must row, then sail, then row and\/or sail the boat around a course.\u00a0 There are prizes for best costume, best boat (not necessarily the most seaworthy), and best &#8220;water event&#8221; &#8211; usually a spectacular sinking &#8211; as well as for speed.<\/p>\n<p>I made a little video of this year&#8217;s Fast and Furious Sea Trials.\u00a0 It&#8217;s in two parts. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Part 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fast and Furious Sea Trials, 2009 Mahone Bay -
