Pearl Island lies even further offshore, the farthest island off Mahone Bay. A protected game sanctuary, it is home to colonies of Atlantic Puffins and other seabirds. In the surrounding waters, whales, dolphins, seals, leatherback turtles and other creatures are often spotted. Access is restricted during nesting season.
